  .......i just noticed your post........can't say i blame you for thinking that.

  i mentioned i'm currently an elder and don't plan on leaving the organization...........but i probably won't be an elder much longer......as i'm not exactly the "ball of fire" they want.

  Hypocrite? No way.

  I, for one, wouldn't think that I would be able to continue to serve as an elder after coming to a realization that the WTS is a farce. But I never served as an elder, so what do I know? If it suits you, then proceed at whatever pace bet suits you and take it at your own pace. Let no one judge you. You will know best when the time is right to make a move. Like some others have said, the knot in your stomach and other physical signs will be good indicators of how long you can stand to serve as an elder for the Borg.

  I do think that it would be of interest to see how much 'light' you could cast into others minds in such a position while knowing what you do. And possibly being able to subside other wrongful actions at least on a local level would be of interest.

  But again, I couldn't even go back in FS once I knew the truth about the Troof. So how one could continue to give talks without blurting out information that would throw up the apostate red light to others in the congregation would be a tough tightrope to walk.

  In the meantime, please keep posting and reading here. Some bite here, but for the most part everyone I feel means well and can offer some level of support to you.

  Awake on taxes asleep on chronology.

  if you have a copy of the december awake magazine dealing with taxes note the first page of the article.. the wt uses two quotes to show taxes have been a concern for thousands of years.. the first quote is from a babylonian artifact dated to 2300 bce.

  the problem that presents is that only 69 years previous the world had been destroyed by a global flood according to wt chronology.

  which means that in a mere 69 years noah and his three sons have produced a nation with sufficient infrastructure to require taxation.

  My brother died last night

  my brother turned 21 on september 24th, a month later the doctor told him that his leukimia had returned and he had a 10% chance of surviving.

  ten days before he died he spent four days at my house.

  he had already made up his mind that he wasnt going to take blood.

  well after two months of silence i got a couple of phone calls from my "best jw friends".

  probably motivated by november watchtower instructions, they were nice asking about a family, kids etc, and then came "the" question: when are you going back to the meetings?

  i told them again reasons why not ,yet they tried to be sympathetic by warning: as long as you do not go around and bad-mouth the organization we can still be friends.

  Help - it's drawing me in again

  hmm, not sure how to write this - here goes:.

  i left the jw's about 15 years ago however my 18 year old son is a witness.

  we haven't seen each other for many years and the only contact we have is via the telephone occasionally (all this is cool btw).

  Ha! I heard that illustration all of the time from the platform in regards to why we wouldn't celebrate holidays, read other literature, clink glasses and say 'Cheers', not say "Bless You when you sneezed', yada, yada, yada...

  Sure, there are many great, genuine people in the WTS. THere are some that I miss at times, although I can count that number on one hand at this point. If you would have asked me who were my friends 6 months ago in the KH, I would have said everyone. Tough times sure weed out the fake from the real.

  And yes, there are helpful teachings in the WTS. It has helped some become better people from where they were before.

  But the same could be said of many other organizations. But I couldn't say that there is so much BAD in these other organizations as I could of the JW's. The WTS is NEVER wrong! You can't think or decide for yourself. And any organization that thinks so little of you getting your spiritual training for your own conscience just by doing your own Bible reading and praying is a dangerous organization in my eyes. They are putting themselves between you and God & Jesus. Dangerous position to be putting themselves in.

  I don't know what amount of exposure you have had to other thoughts RE the WTS, but a good place to start to be healed of a JW mindset is by reading CoC by Ray Franz. His second book is excellent also.

  For an emotional attachment, yes, get some non-JW friends. There is some great people out there. Join a club; dancing, biking, cards, guns, strippers, Bible study, Boy Scouts, whatever interests you. Attend an "Apostafest'. Those sound fun!

  For the spititual side, IMHO, there is more to the bible than what the WTS has let you see. Read other translations. And no, the WTS hasn't cornered the market on great Bible 'Truths' from jehover such as a Paradise on Earth full of perfect people or 'soul sleep'. The Seven Day adventist church and Armstrong's 'Plain Truth' belive similar things.

  as many of you know there has been little friction on the board lately do to some recent deletions and exodus to another board.

  in my deep sympathy and feeling of total unconcern about these events i took it upon myself to do something about it.

  i planed my strategy using maps, schematics, long ropes, a 12 year old bottle of single malt scotch and about three minutes of planing.

  Well, you really had me going for a while there. But then I knew the whole story was a farce when I saw this line:

  Besides, before shotgun left, I gave him specific instructions to go to a ?Gentleman?s Club?, not a strip joint. I wanted to make sure he got a few lappers from Grade ?A?, voluptuous female entertainers pumped full of silicone, not stripper crack-ho?s.
